 Pastor Joe is going on his very first mission trip to Africa this December.

He has had a heart for these suffering people on the horn of Africa for about 9 years now and cannot sit by any longer without doing something.

God knows his heart and has blessed him by providing

this awesome opportunity to serve in Kenya.

The team consists of Bishop Charles Cameron of Covenant Christian Church, North Carolina (who has been doing ministry work in Africa for many years),

Bishop Daniel Kamau and Bishop Alex Omindi both of Nairobi, and Pastor Joseph Betts.

 They will purchase food in Nairobi and drive to various villages distributing it to needy people. But even more important, they will be speaking the Good News of Jesus Christ and of the healing Power of His Blood. We pray that many souls will be saved and bodies healed.

 “Come. Let the thirsty ones come- anyone who wants to.

Let them come and drink the water of Life without charge.”

 Drought, starvation and violence has devastated Somalia and Ethiopia.

Over 500,000 have escaped to refugee camps in Kenya.

The government has banned new relief workers from entering the camps due to the violence. We pray this opens up and if God gives us favor, we will go to some of these as well.

 The trip is scheduled for to Kenya December 4-19.

Please pray for the shekinah glory of God to be released during this mission of mercy as we minister to these beautiful people.

For those of you who are not as acquainted with him, Joe is an ordained minister and I have worked closely with him and his wife Virginia for many amazing years in the Kids Bible Clubs weekly ministry as well as conducting numerous Christ-centered camps for children and youth in Jasper at the Holy Spirit Ranch. His ministry focus has taken a bit of a twist in the last year. He has been privileged to officiate going home celebrations of two of his dear friends. This summer brought much joy as he officiated the wedding of a precious young couple. Along with his ongoing ministry helping and counseling others in need, God is opening new doors of opportunity leading up to this very exciting trip to Africa!

About 5 years ago, Joe was introduced to an evangelist called Bishop Charles E Johnson, who for some 57 year, led crusades as well as church plants around the United States and diverse places such as Mexico, India, Haiti, Virgin Islands and Africa. I was privileged to have met Bishop Charles and serve alongside him a few times as he preached at our camps and even allowed us to borrow a couple of his extraordinary crusade tents so we could pack in more kids for camp!

He became a influential spiritual mentor and friend to Joe who spent countless hours with him and sat with him during his illness until the day he was ushered home to heaven in January of 2010. Bishop's life here on earth left such an impact on him and this trip is the realization of a call from God to be involved in carrying on the work and legacy he left behind to make disciples and spread the saving message of Jesus' love and sacrifice.
